Yes, that's a knob of broccoli florets. And leaf lettuce; spinach or chard, a few baby carrots, a whole apple, scrubbed and quartered, and an entire organic lemon. Some mornings I even throw in a few inches of zucchini or cucumber.
The lemon and the apple, 2 or 3 cups of filtered water, and a dropperful of NuLife Naturals Liquid Vanilla Stevia are the essential ingredients, as are the two scoops of high quality protein powder. If you want to knock the anti-oxidant value out of the park, use Kangen Water; it's got an Oxidation Reduction Potential that is 30 times higher than the Acai Berry.
This blender full of deliciousness often incorporates some ice and a frozen banana---or berries---and then I pour myself a giant glass and the rest goes into a quart mason jar. I cap it off, to keep in the enzymes and keep it from oxidizing, and drink it two hours later for "elevensies"(as Frodo calls second breakfast.)
Not only am I getting my diet full of anti-oxidant rich, cancer fighting foods, my body is loving the nutrients and giving me noticeably more energy and mental clarity. Eating more frequently, with a balance of protein and carbs revs up the metabolism. And clean up is so simple; I can wash the vitamix out with a drop of dish soap and a few cups of water by putting it back on the base and buzzing it for 60 seconds, then rinse. My meal 2 is ready to grab and go when I leave the house without any additional preparation.
And, bonus:
Since committing to green smoothies til noon, a whole half inch has slid right off my hips; and another half inch has slid off my midsection, in just seven days!
Try it!
You'll love how you feel and your cells will rejoice at the nutrient rich infusion.
And then go plant your lettuce! It goes to seed and produces flowers once the temperatures rise above 75 degrees, so growing greens, INDOORS in your AeroGarden is PERFECT!
When you grow it yourself, you'll have leaves ready to eat in 3 weeks...and then you can pluck off leaves every day, seconds before you eat them, so not a drop of their nutrient value is lost. Romaine, Kale, chard, spinach...all the greens are SO good for you! (I've even used some organic, unsprayed dandelion greens. They're a little bitter, so go easy on those.) This weekend I'm planting a new Aerogarden with three kinds of heritage kale varieites for future smoothies.
After paying $4.65 at the health food store for a tiny bunch of organic Kale, I'm seeing how my AeroGarden will pay for itself as I continue to streamline and nourish my body!
What are you going to grow today?
How about a Pink Smoothie?
ReplyDeleteI put frozen cranberries in just now and it's . . . Mmmmmm Good!
